Drinking and Driving
Yes- work was very demanding today- out of 58 calls in the last 6 hrs, we had only one very serious one (thank god). This drunk woman slammed into a telephone pole and knocked it down. She fractured her jaw- the bone stuck out of her head, and she had some pritty bad face and lower neck contusions. I was worried about her airway- so i intubated her and i called for a chopper so that she could be flown to a local area hospital. All-in-all the entire thing lasted about 20 min- 5 min longer than i had wished for, she lost alot of blood- and the medics were late (as alwaise)- so we couldent give her any pain medication- or spare blood- but not like she would have needed and pain medication- she was so friggen waisted. this was at 4 am- about and hour after the bars closed... in a way i wish she would be dead. i have abcolutly no tollerance for people who drive while intoxicated. It's a very horriable thing to feel- but i deal with death and sickness and injury every day- and i HATE going on calls at 4 am where people have been to fucking stupid of lazy to call a cab. If you want to drink- thats fine with me- just dont drink and drive.
I could bitch about that all day long. I think its become a passioned subject for me. I hope that woman goed to prison after she gets out of the hospital. She deserves to.
